Charles Ludwig Stahl (1828-1896) purchased land and started the Powder Valley Pottery at the age of 19. He operated the pottery until his death in 1896. Charles had nine children, three of whom followed the craft: James, Thomas, and Isaac. After the death of their father, Isaac kept the pottery operating until 1902.
